Smitha Ramakrishna from Corona del Sol High School in Chandler. Smitha's research at an ASU lab found that artificial sweeteners such as sucralose, marketed as Splenda, does not break down in our wastewaster treatment plants, meaning it can accumulate in our water supplies after people excrete it.
Smitha is one of 40 finalists in the Intel competition this week in DC.
