ASU Frontiers Project seeks to attract senior research teams
The ASU School of Earth & Space Exploration has launched the Frontiers Project, "targeted hiring initiatives in earth & space science and engineering" [right, ASU display ad with picture of new building]
The school is seeking senior faculty members at other universities or senior scientists and engineers at federal or industry who would be interested in relocating to the Tempe campus of ASU, bringing their research teams and programs with them. The plan is to move these groups into the new research building under construction. SESE Director Kip Hodges told me the other day that the building is actually 3 months ahead of schedule and they could begin moving in next summer.
This is a bold move - but what better time to make strategic investments to attract major talent when there are such tough times at schools or labs around the country.
