The current issue of Industrial Minerals magazine has a short article on Zeox Corp.'s new zeolite product that can be used as a high-strength, lightweight drilling cement. Zeox operates the White Cliffs processing facility [
right: credit Zeox Corp.] about 60 miles northeast of Tucson, which produces up to 40,000 tons per year of diatomite and zeolite products. The article says the new product can greatly reduce the density of downhole drilling cements.
Other uses for the zeolites include applications in water-treatment and removal of mercury from coal-fired stack gases.
