Forest lands added to uranium withdrawal

The Secretary of Agriculture is putting 360,000 acres of national forest lands near Grand Canyon National Park, off limits to new mining claims for the next two years, bringing the total amount of lands 'segregated' by federal agencies to 1 million acres according to news reports out this morning. Existing mine claims are not affected by the decision.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar last week segregated the BLM lands.
