Sky-scraping solar tower power plant proposed for Arizona

Imagine a solar chimney, 2,400 ft or more tall, 400 ft wide, set amidst square miles of solar greenhouses, generating hundreds of megawatts of electricity as hot air soars up the tower.

That's that plan of Enviromission, a private company proposing a $750 million solar power plant in Arizona. The New York Times reported on the idea yesterday but the Discovery Channel ran a video story about the idea that is among a number of animations on the company's web site.
