EPA officials held a town hall meeting in Dewey-Humboldt last week to report on the results of their testing of the
Iron King Mine and Humboldt smelter Superfund sites. The
Prescott Daily Courier reports that EPA project manager Leah Butler said "It's too early to say what will be done. It's likely that the cleanup will involve a combination of consolidating, capping and removal (of contaminants from the mine and smelter)."
EPA is offering free testing of soils for contaminants for local residents.
