National parks in Arizona to get $20M in stimulus funds
The National Park Service will spend $20,476,000 on 53 projects in parks in Arizona, using federal stimulus funds. Projects include preservation activities, energy efficiency and renewable energy, remediation of abandoned mine lands, and some road projects with additional support from the Federal Highway Administration. It's interesting to see where the rest of the NPS's $750M is going. The District of Columbia will get the second largest amount at nearly $77M, behind California's $97M. But even states not generally thought of as having a lot of national parks, like New York, North Carolina, and Virginia, are each getting more than $20M. The numbers come from the NPS site http://recovery.doi.gov/nps/
