Opponents to Rosemont mine calling for 'no action' by USFS
There have been a chorus of voices calling on the U.S. Forest Service to issue a 'no action' decision on the proposed Rosemont copper mine, something the Forest Service says it can't do, according to a story in the Green Valley News. At the request of Pima County Supervisor Richard Elias, the Green Valley Community Coordinating Council board voted last week to endorse the call from U.S. Reps. Gabrielle Giffords and Raul Grijalva for the Forest Service to effectively oppose the mine by recommending 'no-action' be taken on the mining plan.
Meanwhile, the Forest Service is continuing to prepare an Environmental Impact Study for the proposal, which is expected to be complete about a year from now.
