A centennial symposium on Arizona geology in 2012
February 14, 2012 is the centennial of Arizona becoming a state. Bob Kamilli, USGS geologist in Tucson and the Program Chair for the Arizona Geological Society, is floating a proposal to organize a 100th Anniversary Symposium on the geology, hydrology and mineral resources of Arizona and contiguous areas during 2012. Early responses are positive and the Arizona Geological Survey is committing to support it, but no details have been worked out.
The Arizona Centennial Commission is calling for celebratory events including publication of books and articles that enhance knowledge of Arizona’s history through new research.
