Arizona legislation


New bills are being submitted rapidly in the Arizona Legislature. Here are a couple that caught my attention so far:

HB2195 would strip the authority from the Arizona Corporation Commission to mandate renewable energy use by utilities and reserve that power to the State Legislature. Arizona has a recently enacted 15% Renewable Portfolio Standard (RES) that a was an issue in the ACC election last fall. "Renewable energy" includes the production and distribution of solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, nuclear, agricultural waste, landfill gas and hydroelectric power.

HB2196 would authorize privatization of managment (not ownership) of all Arizona state parks.
