Hi-res imagery along Arizona-Mexico border

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has almost finished acquiring high-resolution 3-band imagery in 30-mile wide band along the entire Arizona-Mexico border, that should become publicly available by early summer.

USGS scientist Tom Sturm briefed the Arizona Geographic Information Council (AGIC) this morning on the program status. He expects to bring copies of the complete imagery set to Arizona where they will be available through the state's central GIS clearing house

The imagery goes about 10 miles into Mexico and 20 miles on the Arizona side. Arizona has the highest priority in this national program.

Higher resolution products (about 4 inch resolution) can be generated by reprocessing the data for about $40 per square mile.
