Growth of diamond films from tequila

The headline of the day: "Scientists turn tequila into diamonds."

Physorg.com reports, "A team of Mexican scientists found that the heated vapor from 80-proof (40% alcohol) tequila blanco, when deposited on a silicon or stainless steel substrate, can form diamond films." The full technical paper is online. [right, a collection of tequilas. Credit, Wikipedia]

Luis Miguel Apátiga from the National Autonomous University of Mexico is quoted, "There is no doubt; tequila has the exact proportion of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms necessary to form diamonds."

There are too many things that I won't say about this. Sometimes it's better to just sit back and smile.
