The 111th Congress that convenes in January will have 22 scientists and engineers, and 27 members with backgrounds in health sciences, for a total of 9% of the seats in the House and Senate, according to
Scientists & Engineers for America, and Dave Curtiss at the
AAPG GEO-DC blog.
But none of them have a degree in the geosciences. The closest is Rep. Christopher Carney of PA with a BA in Environmental Science and Sen. Jim Risch of ID with a BS in Forest Resources Management.
