USGS mapping projects in Arizona


Under the "Fedmap" component of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program, USGS geologists propose projects for internal funding. Three of them this year will involve Arizona (project geologists name in parentheses):

Geology of Parks and Federal Lands of the Southwest (George Billingsley)

Purpose: To support the National Park Service in its resource management and preservation of cultural, biologic, hydrologic, and geologic features.

Location: Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada

Navajo Land-Use Planning Project (Margaret Hiza)

Purpose: To provide a geologic framework to the Navajo Nation for land-use planning and natural resource management.

U.S.Mexico Border Geologic Framework (Page)
